The Carpenter I position is suited to those who possess good basic carpentry skills. They are eager to learn and are methodical in their approach to each task given to them. A Carpenter I requires significant oral or written instruction, and their work must be monitored by a more advanced Carpenter or a Superintendent/Foreman. They may also require additional instruction about tool usage or building practices. They are able to follow simple drawings and can make precise measurements. A Carpenter I does have a basic knowledge of tools and their uses, but is still learning to use some specialty tools. They are proactive in seeking clarification, instruction, and in verifying accuracy. They support the Superintendent/Foreman and other Carpenters in maintaining the organization and safety of the jobsite.
